The conversion of power from one form to another in a clean, efficient, effective and compact manner for its later utilization is known as Power electronics. In other words, it is the application of solid-state electronics to the control and energy conversion. In modern systems, these conversions were done with the help of semiconductor devices like diodes, thyristors, and transistors. The electronic systems deal with the transmission and processing of signals whereas the power electronics process only a few amounts of electrical energy. Industrial application of power electronics is Variable speed drive (VSD) that is used to control an induction motor. There are four power conversion systems: AC to DC, AC to AC, DC to DC, DC to AC.
